Issues

My mission is to foster a Melrose City Government that is as safe, prosperous, equitable, entrepreneurial, and modern as the people who live within its borders.

SCHOOL FUNDING

Providing a robust education for our community's children is our most sacred responsibility. Ensuring that our school system consistently receives the dollars it requires to perform that function will be my highest priority. A high-quality education will give our kids the best opportunities for educational attainment and personal/professional fulfillment, and I will pursue every opportunity for our students' mentorship, teacher training, advanced courses, and early workforce development & apprenticeship programs.

PUBLIC BUILDING/INFRASTRUCTURE

A budget is a moral document, as our city budget places a literal dollar amount on our values and priorities. Melrose city government's infrastructure is a backbone for our community, and our city can and must do a better job planning for the building and maintenance of all city assets. Particularly for our public safety employees, we must provide the resources necessary to do their job in a data-driven, cost-effective, & sustainable fashion in order to provide critical and necessary services for Melrose’s residents.

HOUSING/ZONING

Our country is in the midst of a severe housing crisis, the impacts of which are acutely visible in our community and throughout Massachusetts. Melrose can contribute to the alleviation of this crisis through sustainable transit-oriented development. I envision a bolstering of our mixed-use development that not only sustains the character of our city, but also takes advantage of the unparalleled walkability of Main Street, public parks, and our train stations.

SERVICE DELIVERY

In this day and age, most city services ought to be instantly accessible from any smartphone. I would like to spearhead a city program “hackathon” to document and subsequently ascertain how we can make city government services more digitally accessible. Whether registering your child for kindergarten or paying a parking ticket, we should embrace every effort to abandon paper-only systems and strive for city government modernization where possible.
